Mechanic Discovers Car Was Tampered With
After her vehicle broke down on the road last week, a mechanic informed an Ethridge resident that it appeared that someone had tampered with her gasoline.
The forty-four year old victim reported to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that she had been traveling to work in Lewisburg when her Chevrolet Malibu broke down on the side of the roadway.
The victim said that she had the car towed for repair. When she picked it up the mechanic told her that it appeared someone had put some substance into her gas tank. He told her that he had found water and an unknown black substance inside the tank.
The victim said that damages to the car totaled $1,000. Investigation in the matter is currently continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
